Meet Clara

Clara Pratte has dedicated her life to public service, entrepreneurship, and advocating for communities often overlooked. A member of the Navajo Nation, Clara grew up in Lupton, Arizona, a small community of approximately 1,000 people near the New Mexico border. Her family lived without electricity or running water until she reached middle school, instilling in her a deep understanding of the vital role reliable utilities play in not only quality of life but basic survival. For Clara, ensuring access to clean, affordable energy isn't just policy—it's personal.

Throughout her distinguished career, Clara has successfully championed small businesses and tribal communities, working under three U.S. Presidents and serving four Navajo Nation Presidents. At the federal level, Clara held senior roles at the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Department of Commerce, and assisted President Biden in the early days of his presidency - managing critical policy portfolios at the intersection of economic development and tribal affairs.

Today, Clara is a successful small business owner and is the co-founder of Navajo Power, a pioneering clean-energy enterprise committed to empowering Indigenous communities through solar energy projects. She also has several other projects she leads which all provide critical services in community engagement, economic development, and renewable energy projects not just in Arizona but across the country.

Clara is running for the Arizona Corporation Commission to lower costs for seniors and families, restore integrity and accountability to the commission, strengthen protections for consumers statewide, and ensure Arizona does not fall into an energy production crisis. With extensive expertise in not just renewable energy, but all forms of energy production, Clara knows firsthand Arizona’s immense untapped potential in clean energy and the competitive advantage that it presents. She believes that now is the urgent moment to harness this potential, positioning Arizona as a leader in sustainable economic growth, lowering energy bills for all Arizonans, and creating lasting, recession-resilient, economic opportunities.

Clara lives in Flagstaff, Arizona, with her husband and their two young boys. She is driven by a commitment to building an equitable energy future for all Arizonans, ensuring that no family experiences the hardships of inadequate infrastructure she faced growing up. Her leadership promises a thoughtful, informed approach to Arizona’s energy challenges and a brighter future for generations to come.
